Simple awnser is purchase a mppt solar controller they are about £13 on ebay and will do the job without any impur from yourself needed. Connect and go.
I would add. A 100watt solar panel from ebay of the mono type will run the average boat and keep your batteries topped up. I added a Victron VSR Combiner to my system pretty easy to set up and both my start and house batteries remain charged independently. A simple system to install even for me
