Solar Panel Bracket

I am looking for an adjustable solar panel bracket to hang off the stanchions/solid guard rails on either side of the cockpit so that i can leave the panel vertical if sailing in rough weather and then deploy it when at anchor. Any ideas please ?

We have twin backstays and made a system for this that carries 2 x 80 watt panels. If you use this search.

On my last boat I used a barbecue mount which clamped to the pushpit. I could alter the angle to suit the sun direction relative to the mooring and disconnect the panel quickly when I left the boat.

I replaced the top guardwire between he pushpit and next stanchion with 1" SS tube.
Fitted saddle clamps to the middle of the short edge of the panel with a SS plate inside the frame. The panel then rotates fom outboard through horizontal to inboard.
I used 1 1/4" saddles and some split tubing to take up the gap and ct as a bearing surface. By adjusting the tension on the saddle clamp bolts I could set the friction just right.

Swinging them inboard offered some protection when moored alongside.

We used extendable brackets as shown in the photo in the link, I think they're hatch supports but one each side does adequately for our 100 watt solar panel

I think I'm intending to do what you're describing. We already have SS bars mounted between the rearmost stanchions and pushpit. My next job on the boat is to mount the two 100W panels.

Some people use our antenna rail mount brackets - they fit 1" standard rail.

It's for the Sunsei Solar Panel. However, from what I've seen there's no reason why you couldn't adapt a panel to fit the mount or vice versa.

If you Google Sunsei Solar mount it'll return a myriad of vendors and prices. I've used the mount all season and it's been brilliant.

Just another heads up and +1 for NOA fittings. Extremely well made and robust although perhaps a liitle on the costly side.
