So I took my ISO raft in for a service today. It's a canister raft, so 3 year service intervals. When we opened it up, the first aid kit was a year out of date (the raft was brand new three years ago) but the one that gets me would up is the battery for the light. It has a 5 year lifespan. So it's OK now, but it only has two years left, so I either reduce my service interval to two years next time or replace the battery at well over a hundred quid in order to get another three years.

Apparently, a lot of the contents of ISO rafts have shelf lives that are not multiples of three years, so about the only time you'll get a 3 year service interval is on the first service...

Unless you are doing trans ocean trips, the need for most of the gear in them is not needed anyway, ours is stripped of everything bar flares. other "essentials" are in a grab bag.
