So.......

For the first time in about 6 weeks!...

We popped down to Windsor to use their pump out, and emptied the boat of all perishables and fabrics, anticipating a Winter ashore, also drained the water system.

She's still usable just in case, but might be up for sale soon, pending a slightly more modern vessel!

Not a bad day by all accounts, a tad of sunshine, and very low wind, but cool at 7 degrees!

Nice to see Windsor out on their sailpast, shame the turnout wasn't as good for the TVR, they may have won more than a novelty prize!

Had a wait for the pump out, as 'Bodnic' was moored up trying to remove the screw fitting so they could use the facility. I attacked it with a hammer and drift which loosened it enough to remove, which made them happy.

So, do I sell her and upgrade? Or keep her? I think the latter is more sensible, as she's in excellent all round condition, but still fancy a Broom 9/70.

Had a lovely pootle about, was wondering if my choice of shorts was appropriate as it was a bit parky away from the sun. Lovely day all in all with the autumn clouts coming through. Just a quick trip to Chertsey Meads where we caught up with some friends doing a spot if fishing and back again, given drinkie time was a very pleasant afternoon out.

First trip out since the great Laleham fuel robbery. Great ride up to Windsor, retail therapy
for SWMBO and a couple of pints in Wetherspoons.
No hold ups, the river being very quiet. Nice to be afloat.

Left Bray at 7.50 Sat morning and returned 6.30 Sunday evening.
Hmmmm .... one is tempted to enquire as to your movements in between those two times - especially as you have left the question begging!

WE drove to Bray on Sunday morning to leave a car there before returning by road (in Car 2) to Penton Hook - on the way we noticed bulto and Norsal heading upriver as we passed Runnymede.

Left PH with Legacy at 11am and ran back upriver to Bray, just failing to get to Romney before lunch so we worked Romney ourselves and headed through Windsor as the sun came out, Hasty Lady waved from the Brocas and we saw Norsal again tied up by the leisure centre but no sign of life so hope the retail therapy wasn't too expensive!

Through Boveney on our own again, avidly watched by three gongoozlers who thanked us for the entertainment. Then on past TWYC with them all parading on the verandah in their blues following their sail-past in the morning.

Arrived back at Bray around 1500 - didn't see No-Regrets, either he'd gone home or maybe drooling over an even bigger boat ? Saw a couple of Bray boats returning from their laying up supper at Cookham.

Dunno when we'll get out again but much planning in progress for a face-lift in the spring.

Can't believe how frugal my single TMD31A is - only put 100 litres of diesel in at the beginning of the season and still plenty left before she gets another fill - my low tank level policy is well under way :D

Was out on Saturday to fill up with Diesel before the winter, passed Brayman at Temple that had broken down on the public out of hours but thankfully worked when switched back to Lockeeper mode.
Then 100yards later passed Salty Sealine.
Testing by latest ebay purchase yesterday (anchor winch)

Only 100 litres??

You obviously don't go far, even with my tiny engine, I've managed to use over 1,000 litres this year (Yipes!!), but then we've probably done in excess of 500 miles.
I do envy you being able to potter, for me a weekend is just not worth the motorway hassle.

A weekend of friends on board for both days and moored up at Spade Oak for the night.

Pump out at Bourne End cost £17.50!!!! and it goes straight into the main drains, what a rip off, also filled up with water.

About 2 hours later as moored up I notice water pooring out of the black water tank overflow pipe. A child I had on board ealier had left the rocker switch by the toilet on, and so the water tank had been emptied. Aaaarh!

We have probably been out and about more this year than last and well over 100 hours on the engine. My statement was a little misleading as I only told you I had put in 100 litres - there was probably 150 litres or so (maybe more) already in the 500 litre tank. However, with the tank right across the back end I'm intent on running it down to reduce draft as much as possible.

As for pottering .... much more likely now to say 'sod it, lets stay here another day' than we used to be :D

Lovely cruise back from Cookham yesterday after the Bray CC Laying Up, with Mr & Mrs Jaws on board. Fuelled up on Friday afternoon - 390 litres from last October. Friday night we were at Shillingford for the ODCC Laying Up, by car unfortunately as we can't do Shillingford to Cookham in one hop.
Temple wasn't the only lock having problems with the new electrics, you can add Marsh and Shiplake to the list. At least the lockkeepers provided assistance when they should have been at lunch.
Saw Salty Sealine buzzing around and still asleep at Spade Oak when we past yesterday morning.
Pande had their forum flag flying as we went past both days, got a salute on Saturday but no sign of them yesterday.

Interesting comment about your fuel consumption. The Sunfury (the guvnor) that I used for 10 years on the non-tidal ( 1 year at the Racecourse, 3 years at Bray, 1 year at
T & K and 5 years at DB Marine at Cookham) sported a VP MD30 Diesel - ant it just sipped diesel.

Now I have a 4cyl single Vetus Deutz 120hp Turbo Intercooler that hauls a 16tonne Dutch Steel cruiser 13m X 4m

We have just finished our summer cruise in Freisland nl and the fuel figures are;

140 engine hours

1245kms at 9km/hr

568 litres of fuel - 4 litres per hour

6 months cruising with 43 towns /villiages / cities visited.

Other stats you may find interesting

Marina moorings 10eu per night (inc 16amp shore power, water, showers, wifi etc)

Council run moorings usually offer half price if you stay a week - so about 30eu per week

If you want town centre without shore power the are mainly F.O.C for a 3 / 4 day stop.

Lift out 60eu (both ways) . Pump outs 2eu

We made it out onto the Trent this weekend. Plenty of fun had and booze consumed and a good excuse to get the hoods down and blow away a few wooly heads and cobwebs yesterday morning

Weather was just right for it

Tonight

I was the only boat out on the river tonight, very peaceful.

Wonder if anyone has suggested to the EA about getting the river floodlit, so we can make better use of it during the evenings?
