cruising plans, well any plans if you want to share, I am going to wait and see what places work take me next year.

We will be doing some "cruise with company" next year, so will get to enjoy staying somewhere for longer than the time to find a mod of transport back,LOL

The only place we couldn,t make a cup of tea underway was rounding Cape Horn in a force 12:D

I plan to cruise from Portishead to Dartmouth. (May be via Scilly Isles)

Leave the boat there and use it for a few weekends exploring the area before cruising back.

It will be a big trip for us and the first time outside of the Bristol channel.

I plan to go boating every weekday evening, after I have finished work, and every weekend, throughout the summer, if the weather and tides allow and there isn't something good on the telly. No long passages, except some convoy cruises, as I would like to make the Isle of Man next year.

Of course, I still have a circumnavigation of Anglesey to cash in, if I can chivvy Captain Tom Bligh to complete the trip this time, in Little ****.

I plan to read & sleep a lot more on the boat next year - I still haven't managed to gather a crop of razor shells for a meal or two. I might even decide to go somewhere - but it don't really matter a toss if I don't, I am based smack in the middle of a super cruising area anyway.

Spend a lot more time out on the Irish bit of the continental shelf fishing for Albacore. Bluefin and anything else that cares to cruise past me. The yanks do it for 2-3 nights at a time, I just need some Carolinas type weather.

Fully retired now, so plan is:

Hamble direct Dartmouth for 3 or 4 days.
Dartmouth direct Falmouth for 5 or 6 days.
Falmouth - Plymouth for 3 or 4 days (Sutton Harbour hopefully)
Plymouth - Brixham for 3 days
Brixham - Torquay for 3 days
Torquay - Weymouth for 4 or 5 days.

Then:

Weymouth - Guernsey for 5 or 6 days
Guernsey - Jersey for 5 or 6 days.

Then:

Not sure.......!

Also intend a few days in Brighton, and usual jaunts around Solent , Lymington, Yarmouth etc, lunches at the Folly Inn and at Cowes

Waypoints already in chartplotter, timing depends on weather - hopefully in the BBQ Summer the Met Office has again forecast!

We are aiming to get out of the Sharpness Canal into the channel next year, after a year of ditch crawling.

Will need to invest in some instruction first though, as SWMBO will be nervous.

As Newbies we set ourselves reachable targets this year, which I'm pleased to report we managed.
Targets for 2010, around Anglesey and Isle of Man. Somebody's also put the idea of Ireland in my head but not sure if that isn't too ambitious.

I plan to make the most of this Fletcher 19gts.. I know it's a small boat but compared to the Bayliner Capri bowrider, I think I'm going to get much more sailing time out of her.. will be doing the usual jaunts down to Lymington for the weekends but also intend to do at least one week away, probably in Cornwall doing the campsite/boating thing. Can't wait to be honest, gagging to get the boat on the water

We'll start the year with a load of maintenance and paint and varnish over easter.

First weekend away will be the old gaffers weekend in Yarmouth.

Some Fairey owners club rallies.

The CTC 50th event, we'l be leaving about 10 days early, maybe heading to St Vaast of Guernsey, then the trip back to Dartmouth, then Torquay for the rally back to Cowes.

Aside from that some lazing around in our favourite anchorage.

I always start the year with lots of big ideas of where we will go, see and do......But work and the weather always seem to get in the way.........SO.........For next year we are just going to use the boat as much as possible, plan nothing and just see what happens.......and do you know what.........I'm really looking forward to it!!!!

Happy Christmas all

Regards Paul.

Irelands no further than IOM, theres loads more places to stop. It's just bloody expencive.

Well I'm looking to get my first boat this season and work out where to go with it, well, where to moor it would be a good start. :)

We're going for a 30-35ft motor cruiser probably based around the Solent somewhere. For some reason I had much grander ideas of how far I would be going in it than people realistically seem to be travelling so I need to manage my expectations a bit. I'll probably not get much further than out around the IOW this year but would like to think I could manage a 1-2 week holiday travelling down the south coast to devon and back again...we'll see!
