So what plans do you have for next year

cruising plans, well any plans if you want to share, I am going to wait and see what places work take me next year.

We will be doing some "cruise with company" next year, so will get to enjoy staying somewhere for longer than the time to find a mod of transport back,LOL

Hardly used the boat this year, due to lousy weather and outdrive problems.
Would like very much to "nip" down to the Scillies for a few days next June/July. Anyone want to make up a convoy?

As Newbies we set ourselves reachable targets this year, which I'm pleased to report we managed.
Targets for 2010, around Anglesey and Isle of Man. Somebody's also put the idea of Ireland in my head but not sure if that isn't too ambitious.

If you are confident about going round Anglesey, which is distinctly difficult in a lot of places. Then IOM which can be very nasty (I used to be based there). Then going to Ireland would be extremely simple by comparison. Long boring sail, they always are, then easy landfall and lots of nice places.

Good luck

Mike

We plan to go there most years so keep in touch, that's if you can puy up with cruising at 7kts!!

Hmm. Been to the Scillies a few times. It's only about 35 miles From Penzants. St Marys if a bit bouncy in some conditions. it's probably best. So watch the wind. There are other places to go.

WE always found it easiest to return to Penzants, or Newlyn if it got iffy.

The Scillies are a bit special. go there. Go to Bardsey as well.

The Scillies are on our list too. If you do hatch a plan, then post up or PM and we may try to join in - we generally cruise around 20-23K

If not there, then France is also somewhere in the plans too... if anyone is considering a trip over.

Ah, 20-23kts, that's more like it. However this could mean that there would be 3 visiting boats turning up on the same day (provided LJS starts a day before us). Will the Islands be able to cope do you think?

The Scillies are easy to get to. About 60 miles from Falmouth, or 35 miles from Penzanze/ Newlyn.. It's well bouyed so Into St Maries is easy. St Maries is fairly well protected from most winds though the odd ones get through. There are choices. Scoot back to UK, or go round the other side. You need to do one or other before the weather kicks in.

Dunno if I should be here as a Raggie but I'd like to single hand to Holland and up to the Freisien Islands in my Hurley 22 if time and funds allow and nothing much breaks on the boat but I'll head South and cross over at the narrow bit.

2010 Trip plan to date " Mr Bluesky"

Early March, Palma Mallorca

Mid March, Malaga reigion

End March, Malta and Sicily

July / Aug, Greek Islands

Late Aug, Corsica and Sardinia

September, Menorca and Mallorca.

Think I will need some shore time by then.

Big cruise next/this year, leaving in May, Barcelona, Menorca, Sardinia, Tunisia, Malta, Sicily, Italy, Corfu and the Ionian. Winter in Corfu.
Cant wait, just got to finish all the wee jobs in hand, then ready.

Due to the tax situation in Greece, (look on liveaboard forum) It looks like my Greece plans are scuppered!

workwise we've got superyachts booked in in Monaco, Florida, Rotterdam, Marbella, and a few places in France. although technically not time spent on the water its a pleasure to work on some large floating palaces and hearing the stories of the captains.

as for my own boat, providing i can get the engine working properly i intend to make the IOW this year, along with meeting up with friends in Poole harbour. yes i know its only local but its only my 2nd year on my own boat and its only 18ft so small fast hops are the best i can hope for at the moment

Destination this summer: Amsterdam Sixthaven, just across from the Centraal Station, and spend a few days there. We will be there a few years too soon: they are building a metro line underneath the river, so the acces from the marina to the city centre will be even more practical.
