Makes Sea Start seem pretty good value - about £160 pa and they'll either fix it for you or tow you if you're less than 3 miles out (though they've been known to go further).

Charges are made on a strictly cost basis. In fact the SNSM has had unfair competition issues with commercial ventures.
In what way is competition unfair? Because the money doesn't go to the public purse? Or because commercial ventures are willing to undercut the SNSM?
