For those of you interested in two brands which are I guess kinda cousins based on the founder of the companies (if my memory is right), both have extended their Mercury outboard deals by around 5 years each..

It's like Formula 1 with these two. Two related brands going neck n neck with similar hardware..

Mercury announces second supply deal in two days

Axopar boats have traditionally been designed around Mercury engines. there are a few with other brands on but very small numbers in comparison.

We love our 300 V8s on our 37, really very very happy with them in terms of performance and economy and how they are matched to the boat as a whole.

I can believe that. They seem to go very well with the Mercurys. Interesting that Saxdor have followed the same route. Are Mercury the motor of choice at the mo?

Saxdor have used Mercury since the off in 2019. A few boats slipped out with no engines amd had Yamaha and some Hondas but didn’t sell well. Integration with the mfd (Simrad) alongside all the c zone switching and charge systems (all owned by Brunswick) works well. Package pricing as one house is attractive to builders along with simplistic plug and play.
More import is power to weight, fuel economy and quietness unless the sports exhaust is open. The V8 is simply spot on as Howard say great all rounder

Shopping for a 100/115HP outboard at the moment, Mercury seem to be both the cheapest and the longest warranty.

I theorise we will lose some of the other outboard manufacturers over the next few years like we lost Evinrude.
