\'Snapped off Cowes\'

Last monday, charging past Cowes going west with Spring tide under us and 30kt breeze coming from the SW, and we get a visitation from the Beken dory...anyway as we were just about the only boat out he spent 10mins or so circling us, clicking away, and then zoomed back in again.

Anyway when I got home on wednesday pm (after another fantastic trip back from Yarmouth) I visited www.Beken.co.uk and they have an online form for requesting any pics that may have been taken.

Filled it in and 'bobs yer uncle', yesterday the proofs, all 30 of 'em dropped thro the door!

God, talk about spoilt for choice!

Trouble is that at (I think) about £30 per print I dont know which to go for.....sort of pictures of yr boat you always dream of but never get.

Regards Nick

Re: \'Snapped off Cowes\'

Had a similar experience about three years ago. Phoned up Beken, asked and they said "what type of boat?", I said "Albin Vega"
"What coour?"
"Blue"
"Argh, that must be Southern Comofrt. We have one photo from last week, one from two months ago and another from 1973"

Bloody hell - What a memory... Or a damm quick database!

Last time I was in their shop in Cowes a couple of years ago the filing system was still manual /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif. They still managed to find my friend's boat in less than 20 seconds. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

My boat (Windy 8800) was once the official photo boat for Beken. It belonged to the late Keith Beken and I have a PM from his son Anthony asking after it. It appears that "Coney Island" as she is called now, captured the famous pic of "Silk II" nose diving into the Solent, along with many thousands of other pics during its 12 years of service with the firm.
