Used to have Snappie21, my first boat. Haven't got any manuals etc only memories, aaah
8hp engine used to be housed in stern locker on a wooden 'saddle' which could slide up and down in aluminium channels. The saddle/engine could be raised by pulling on a rope attached to pulleys giving 2:1 purchase (maybe more?). I dont know if this arragngement was standard or not though.
The plug was a shaped fibre glass filling piece which did look standard. It was attached by string as it was possible to drop it through the engine hole into the depths, although it did float.
In practise the engine had to be hauled up to its maximum. The plug had to be held in position under about 4inch of water and the engine gently lowered onto it to hold the plug in position. Quite an easy job really once you got used to it.
There were no quick engine starts however as the process had to be reversed.
Hope this helps you.

Thank you for your response. My out board is fitted to a moveable panel which can slide up and down as you described. Either side of the panel is a metal loop one still has the remnants of a piece of rope. How was the rope and blocks operated? Was there some kind of pushpit on which it was fixed? and how was the cover fitted?

23 & 21 ...

Completely different boats unfortunately ....... mate of mine had a 21 - I had a 23, only similarity apart from being good boats was the name Snapdragon !

Suggest you contact Snapdragon Association ....... waste of time for rallies if South Coast - but excellent if East Coast

Re: 23 & 21 ...

I must admit that I left them eventually - I was South Coast and found the cover / effort there virtually nil !
East Coast was very active though.

As to E-Mails - I think a dredge of forum is best to get some response ..... possibly another post requesting details for them ?
