Lightening was a rocket with rudimentary wings /forums/images/icons/wink.gif for many many years the only plane that could really climb vertically, just like a rocket. Many planes could go into a steep climb, but would stall if they maintained it, Vulcan being one of those. Love the Vulcans though. I used to live near RAF St Athan where they were maintained and was in the ATC there. Knew many of the pilots, and often got a 'waggle' when they came over our house.
