What practical benefits are there to registering your boat on the Small Ships Register (UK)?

The ability to visit foreign waters would be top of my list.

I suppose to some the ability to be granted a warrant might matter .. but I those are the only two that I'm aware of.
Actually I suppose that the fact it costs only a fraction of a Blue Book is also a benefit in itself!

It's cheap and quick. Also, it doesn't require proof of ownership (is this a benefit? If so, to whom?)

.. so far I can see no reason to register unless I want to sail abroad.. which is not very likely this yeat at least.. not with the West Coast and the Islands beckoning..
