Small pressure washer: recommendations please.

I could do with a small, lightweight, pressure washer for cleaning the boat's deck of general grime, the car, etc.

I don't need something powerful enough to strip paint or dislodge barnacles. It's just for general cleaning.

Above all it must be lightweight, and compact, so I can easily carry it around and store it on board.

Any recommendations please?

What about a garden spray gizmo and a cloth,I find pressure washers at car places don’t really move the underlying dirt

There are various hand held washers now with good pressure - battery powered. Many using same as Makita batterys.

Just go into your nearest Brico and see what's on offer, Leroy Merlin tend to have Karsher I think there are some "compact" ones but don't know how small they are.

It would also be very useful if it could take suction direct from a fresh-water river when water usage restrictions are in force, as they often are on the river where I am based.

Yes I saw someone using one to clean his boat yesterday. Cordless sprayer fed from a back pack water container. I didn't see what make it was, but it did the job well.

I have one of these. Excellent. Will take water from a hose or out of a river or water butt.

+1 for the Worx linked above. I bought a couple of extra attachments for it, so I can pull water from the river, a regular bottle as well as from the tap.
There's a two stage pressure control switch on the device. They also sell a more powerful version as well now, which I'd be tempted by.

I bought the smallest mains powered pressure washer I could find years ago... and it's always been a pain due to its bulkiness.

I had wondered about those Worx ones (or similar) but then didn't want another battery type on board. I already have charged DeWalt batteries on board ready for use.

I just thought, how about making an adapter... hmmm, already done and on YouTube..

Then Amazon came up with a ready ready converter so I could easily use the DeWalt batteries in the Worx. Not only does it have them, but suggests they're often bought together with the Hydroshot!!




Note: that 630 model was only the suggested 'often bought together'. I have no suggestions as to which might be better on board but they certainly look easier to store than the mains powered one.

bought the smallest Karcher K2 or whatever that is, fairly compact, main issue is packing the hose tight (not v.easy tbh) works fine, haven't tried getting it to suck from a source, don't know how it performs on that.

yep as many ppl use the internals for diy watermakers.

Sorry - I meant the Worx (or equivalent) rechargeable handheld ones. I don't think the Karcher K2 will suck from a source; they're designed to be fed from a hose. I have one, and it's fine, but I'd like something a bit more flexible and less bulky.

I used Karchers / Black & Decker with Solent SW ... rinsed through well with FW as soon as finished ... lasted years.

I bought a Ryobi battery operated washer last year.... socks from the canal fine. Not the most powerful but good enough.

Mine is only 22 bar, but they do a 41 bar version now:

The baby Nilfisk. I’ve used mine for years. It is easy enough to transport, very light, inexpensive, just the right power to shift muck but not rip everything up. It just keeps on working.

I just bought a AGURI P40 Power Clean cordless pressure washer...I’ve been looking for ages for a powerfulish battery powered washer...just so tired of lugging things around, plugging them in and having to keep repositioning them...the cordless ones are all in one, just a lance and trigger...so easy to store. Obviously they don’t have the same power...so now that cordless ones can be 40 bar, it’s halfway between the smallest 240v units and a hose. The other great attraction is the hose pipe ban...which no one else seems to care about.
Anyhow, Aguri had some good reviews online and they are nice people to do business with. I have tested in the driveway and was impressed...the wife jet washed the boat (I was on bucket duty...two buckets makes it very efficient)...she really liked it and the boat was cleaned easily. The battery has a very long life and can do the entire job. It’s approximately £160 in the UK with battery (we ordered it directly from Aguri with two batteries). It’s a little bit cheaply made in places but seems robust enough....I can’t swear to its longevity but we are enjoying it so far

I think pressure washers are greatly over -rated.
I have a £15 12V deckwash pump which is quite effective.
And a brush or two....
