Do small outboard engines with integral tanks have a fuel pump or is it gravity feed only. Is this maker specific?

Really looking at getting a 5hp 2 stroke and in this size some have integral tanks and some do not. Some have connections for an external tank so they must have a fuel pump but not sure about the others.

If you go to the boats.net website you will be able to get parts lists and exploded diagrams of most mainstream makes of outboards. You can then look at the fuel tank, fuel system, fuel pump and carb diagrams to see just what they do have.

When there is a fuel pump some have a pump that is a separate entity while others have a pump which is part of the carburetor assembly. Some small Johnsons and Evinrudes have a mysterious "bladder" in the carb which is actually a mini pump which assists gravity flow from an integral tank.

Id have thought that by the time you get to a 5hp engine you are more likely to find, at least the provision to fit, a remote tank, rather than just an integral tank. The integral tanks are generally fairly small so don't give 2 a stroke much of a range.

For some makes you will be able to download an owners manual.
