Slight problem with radar

This is what it looked like after may crew mate had gently lowered it to the deck.

He had carefully attached the cord to it. However, forget to attach the cord to the jib halyiard ..........
I was lucky - I might have been underneath it.

Surprisingly heavy though.
I should be at least a knot faster to windward now without that windage and weight up there.

They don't make them like that anymore.
You'll need a whole new system. Thousands and thousands.
On a positive side.
Was it being lowered because:
a) It was not working?
b) You were upgrading and had bought the replacement already?

Just suspect it may not be as bad as I first thought.

Not working.
The cover had been ripped off and water had got in and done something nasty to the electronics last season.

New cover - unobtainable. Already asked here and checked ebay.
So it was being lowered because it was essentially already a pile of scrap.
