Presumably an RYA commercial endorsement is not valid & I seem to remember some suggestion that the skipper (captain) had to be a US citizen. Is that true?

That would be a surprise to lots of people in the eastern Mediterranean, where many leisure craft are registered in Delaware. I don't think the skipper's even required to wear a brand new jersey. (The owner in such cases would usually be a company registered in Delaware, which just happens to have more companies than people.)

Yes, a delivery, but not by me.
Owner not on trip.
A mate has also warned of US lawyer attack dogs, if anything goes wrong.
Delivery skipper has YM offshore comm end.

Could be a can of worms. I delivered a US flagged boat but with the owner. Been with a chap who is a superyacht bosun a short while ago. He has some horror stories about American beaurocracy.

Charge lots more!

I own and skipper my US boat, State registered. Not Federal. no problem,
Pleasure use only.

I do not use it commercially.

US requirement for commercial use. On Commercial voyage. Requires the right US certification.
The US definition of commercial voyage is pretty tight. If silver crosses the palm.

As far as I know. Paid crew on delivery trips, on a US pleasure yacht, are not commercial voyages, provided there are no paying passengers.

So pleasure vessel pleasure use no problem.
Commercial use different story.

You might get a lot more answers on Sailing Anarchy as far more Sepos there. Take the abuse with a pinch of salt. A lot less abuse on Cruising Anarchy rather than the bear pit itself.
