Am looking for vid camera to attach to ski helmet but wondered has anyone found a cheap underwater camera that could double up as ski camera and also be put underwater to observe prop shaft etc. Seem to remember article in sailing mag recently about camera on end of pole for checking out prop etc.
Thanks
Keith

BY vid camera do you mean one that is self contained and records, or one that displays the image in real time on a monitor?

I suspect, if you want it for skiing, that it's the former. However, if it's the latter, I have one of the Maplin underwater cameras that was featured in PBO (or was it YM) a year or two back that I would be willing to sell. PM me if it might be what you are looking for.

No such thing :(

I bought a cheap web-cam and mounted it in a waterproof box.

Don't listen to Nigel. :D

There are two on the market in UK that I know of. Go-Pro which has already been mentioned at the Oregon Scientific Action Cam ATC9K.

The G0-Pro is good to 10 metres depth and the Oregon down to 20 metres depth. Go-Pro has cornered the market with clever and slick marketing but is more expensive than the Oregon ATC9K.

OREGON ATC9K:

And a load of others:

GoPro HD....... waterproof to 60m, mountable on just about anything.

I've got one, it's great.

Have a look on Vimeo for some GoPro videos - not youtube, the quality isn't there.

EDIT: It's tripod mountable too with the tripod mount adaptor.....
