Hi

What size nut would require a 24 mm spanner.Reason is, I want to buy a nut to try on stud to confirm size before buying a spanner and deep socket..

Sorry if daft question

Just a slight note of caution......The thread is important too. I needed to replace a gearbox flange coupling M20 nut and bought 50 standard M20 nuts from screw-ix because couldn't source any cheaper. Turned out the nut was METRIC FINE which was surprisingly difficult to source.

(anyone needing a standard M20, just PM /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif : )

METRIC FINE

[/ QUOTE ] Which has a pitch of 1.5mm compared with a coarse pitch M16 which is 2.0mm. Sufficient difference not to need a thread gauge I think

Re: size of nut

I had a problem with the nut on my steering wheel ( and it was not me). I measured and it looked like M16 fine and it fitted but tight, it turned out to ne 5/8 inch UNF and from your chart the spanner size is almost the same.
