It's not every day you're strolling through Oban and bump into one of your boyhood heroes.

Met Sir Robin Knox-Johnson and said hello. He said hello back. Made my day.

Clipper fleet in for a few days before the last leg to Portsmouth

Been on his tub, simplistic in design, and quite by chance have his mooring he and Blondie Haslar shared when he and they planned thier adventures.

Now ironically The finish line for clipper race inOban was I believe right next to Barna carry Bay, my favourate anchorage. I passed the finish buoy on Sunday evening around 11 and smiled thinking I was lucky to sail in the same path as the clipper fleet. How sad am I!!

These celebrities!!. Saw Tom Cumliffe at the boat show. Took his advice on sailing round Portland Bill 20 mins after slack water. He neglected to say HW Dover. I got swept out to sea and sat watching as everyone came out later. I must have been 5 hours behind them. I told him it was his fault and he nearly had cardiac laughing.
