I'm pointing at the broken link that adjust throttle from the arms quadrant ...

I will get local metals guy to make a new link ... but I'm interested to know who made this ... there's no makers name on it.

Took it to metals guy and his first comment was .... Who would use such crap aluminium for such unit ??

I did mention its lasted nearly 50 yrs !!

Teleflex ? OK - tks.

I think most single lever controls are either teleflex or morse and at some point one took over the other.

I have several different designs all made by one or the other.

I am sure someone will correct me.

Most likely true ...

Would be good if I could identify it for actual Model ID ... not just Brand. I've searched Internet and cannot find it anywhere, only what I presume are later models.

I've asked the Metals guy to check it over and if any other part is 'iffy' to replace as well .....

Got the new parts today ...

Here's new next to the old :

He made it in 'Aircraft Stainless' - they have a big job on to create trailing link arms for aircraft company and had some spare material to cnc ...

Here fitting it :

Fully operational again .. even with new C clips ..

Decided to also give a coat of paint to the outer visible part to complement the excellent new part.

Cost ? 25 Euros.

"An engineer is a bloke who can make for a tanner what most people pay a fiver for."

A quote from Bill, one of my sponsors when I was bike racing.

He was the guy who invented and Patented pub optics - he never had to go to work again.

Good job, well done.

I had a failure with a morse one 17 years ago - the pin which allows neutral broke off, a cheap 5mm roll pin. It stayed in the last gear selected, ahead. Caused some fun till I sussed it! It was not dismantlable, monkey metal integral rivets as part of the casing, hot pressed together when made.

I drilled them out, drilled and tapped 14 M4 threads to replace the integral rivets, cut my best small phillips screwdriver to get some good tight fitting 5mm rod and re-assembled.

The unit is still working today - the boat, a Hunter 27OOD is moored opposite our mooring.
