I am considering replacing the Simrad RD68 VHF as it is mounted above the helm and now that I wear varifocal lenses I need to tilt my head right back to read the (small) text on the display.
The RD68 is flush mounted and ideally a replacement needs to fit the same aperture (although I could enlarge it if necessary).
I have been considering the Garmin 100i unit as I believe it is a 'straight swap' with the RD68.
Can anyone confirm this to be the case, or indeed any other similar product that fits the same aperture as the RD68.
Any comments on the Garmin 100i would also be appreciated as local chandleries do not stock this unit and will have to purchase it mail-order.
Thanks.
