Just a silly thought, what would your boat say about you if it could talk,
Would it say?
You are dashing handsome, and debonair, /forums/images/icons/cool.gif
That it enjoyed that rough weather trip the other year, /forums/images/icons/crazy.gif
What do you think it would say? /forums/images/icons/wink.gif
Or what does your boat say about you! /forums/images/icons/frown.gif

What'ya mean if??
All boats talk, in fact, they moan, constantly..

"I need a new this..."
"shouldn't you get me a new that..."
etc etc etc

I think it works both ways

Good points Julie. My boat is fast and functional. It is safe and well maintained. Its a bit old (1986) but has new engines. You can depend on it and I lavish loads of maintenance money on it, but it isn't a modern Gin Palace. Its clean and in good condition and it is involved in a continous process of improvement.

I would like to think that my boat would be happy with its owner and the way its owner looks after it - no holds barred. I would like to think that if it has a soul, then it would look after me in times of trouble (i.e. bad weather!).

Maybe it has already - when my petrol tank ruptured in 10' seas, I got the boat home without it exploding - a journey of some 3nm with two engines swimming in 1' depth of petrol.

Maybe there's something in this??

Re:Errm!

Would say whos at the helm today,
One drives useing auto pilot, so I go to sleep, I call it restfull,
One drives lots stops start, I'm kept on My toes,
and the other one's style changes as the weather does.
But I say Lets have fun what ever the weather.
I'm never board,
yours

Re:Yeeehaaaa!...

Your boat and mine have similar feelings...

... and when I get out of the harbour speed restriction and open the throttles, he (because it is a "he") shouts ... "CHAAAAARRRGE"

That's what it feels like anyway!

She says to her self softly in that gentle idylic way she has about her,
What ever did I do to deserve such a kind considerate man to take care of me,
who often puts me before wife and family, "nay indeed" I am all the family he really needs !..

He does things to me he would never do to his wife, slightest mess on my bottom, he is there to clean it ! never seen him do that to hers ! "So there" Im one up on her !

If on certain days Im feeling a bit sluggish to get going, he is there running his hands over my inner most parts, "He does not do that to her very often" And soon im getting all excited and raring to go !..

He treats me the way a lady deserves to be treated, With the upmost respect for my feelings, any complaints I have he is always there ready to throw all the money in the world my way, As long as it makes me happy !

I cannot really criticise him in any way, A true gentleman !......

Re:|My boat says.....

.......Yeehaaa!

Slow and steady in F8, slow and steady in F7, slow and steady in F6. Grind the wheel, and zig zag up and down those waves. That is unless you go out in a F7 when it's completely flat?

Not sure what your point is. Sometimes rough weather is fun, sometimes it's horrible. Flat seas can be boring as hell.

Re: Ohh!

Only thing I could subconiously be thinking is how you veiw your boat, do you think of it as a entitey or a piece of man made equipment. May be I am a bit excentric but I will talk to a boat if I think it has done well. And I do not think I am alone in doing this.

Re: Ohh!

Every trip I thank the boat - Mad or not.
I find my boat is a friend (a hidey hole in times of stress), yet not the Jealous type cos she knows my wife and family come firat!
How is it the song goes from "My Fair Lady" - "Why can't a woman be more like a man?"
