Re: Gate - seconded ...

must second rex seadog - i had exactly the same experience with blakes valves. they do need turning more than 90 deg to shut properly. in my case, the problem was water coming back through the bilge pumps in rough weather

the blakes grease is excellent and well worth the truly exhorbitant cost. lasts longer, sticks like sh** to a blanket, and you only need use a little bit. in fact, their grease is better than their sea cocks, and i use it on my outdrive leg.

Re: Gate - seconded ...

The seacock probably works OK ... albeit bloody stiff and I tend to 'boot' it open / shut !!!

But I may change it to a more conventional valve that you KNOW is open / shut ...... haven't decided yet.......

On a slightly diff. note ...

Does anyone remember the mag article where the guy used the 'bog' to pump the bilges ???? He fitted a large rubber cone to a length of suction pipe that was a close fit to the bottom section of the 'bog-pan' .... the suction from the pump-out was enough to give a very strong bilge pump .....

Just thought I'd throw it in .....
