Our lazarette, which leaks, is stuffed full of crap, including this great big pile of rope. Actually it's two great big piles of rope. I'm not sure whether to chuck it out or not.
It's 25mm, is around 30-40m in length and it floats. It is really cumbersome to use and too thick to tie round cleats. It takes up loads of room in the lazarette and the space could be better used for other stuff. In three years I haven't yet used this rope. I have 100m of much stronger, thinner 15mm line that I use for my second anchor and I'm thinking of buying more warps too.
If I get rid of this am I going to find I'll need it tomorrow? Am I stupid to get rid of such a large amount of rope that could be used in an emergency? Any idea what it's for? I'm guessing the previous owner nicked it from a cruise liner.
