No mention of them in your quoted post.... Please be more precise in future if you want your message to be taken seriously... Footnotes are rather annoyingNot really & that is the point of the sealskinz. One does not get wet feet![]()
Are they really worth £280 . I would like the street cred but I pay less than that for a decent second hand outboard. Mr Dunlop when I go ashore and can take Mr canvas in rain.
You can send them to Dubarry in Ballinasloe, where they will repair them for €60Yes the same. Very old but hardly used pair. I got them out and after wearing them for a short while the heel disintegrated. View attachment 148117
See Post#46Beware! I've had problems with "old stock" boots where the sole has fallen to pieces as soon as I've worn them. Not very old at all, but obviously deteriorated in storage.
I've got a pair of these and i live in fear of this happening or the soles hardening but so far it seems like I either got a good pair or I've not done to it something that caused this to happen. I wonder if some deck washing detergent or boot cleaning product might have done it?Yes the same. Very old but hardly used pair. Actually I never wore them since they were a bit tight. I put them away years ago and only recently got them out. I tried them on and after walking around for a short while I noticed bits of something on the floor…….the bits of the boot soles!I've got a pair of these and i live in fear of this happening or the soles hardening but so far it seems like I either got a good pair or I've not done to it something that caused this to happen. Many, many French offshore racing people (Imoca, Figaro, Ultim, etc)They do look promising. Anyone bought and used a pair?
Did you notice if the soles went hard as well and the broken down rubber was hard brittle bits or soft? Dubarry surely must be wondering what went wrong suddenly as its destroyed their reputation. They must have changed something in the rubber so could presumably go back to the old formulation.
I also much prefer leather to more modern (and probably more efficient) materials, but it seems today there are not suitable optionsThat’s a powerful recommendation!
I’ll just have to grit my teeth and make a major investment.
Shame that Dubarrys are now expensive junk. I loaned my wife’s pair to a friend who was doing a zero to hero and they came back in four pieces.

You are certainly not alone.
The late HW Tilman was almost obsessed with the idea of leather sea boots. Had Dubarrys existed, he would have been their launch customer! Given his choices of latitude, weather and temperature, one can see why.
If they are anything like the quality of their land based stuff they will be excellent. I have a pair of leather lined boots that I have been shooting in for over 15 years, they are now coming up to 20 years old and still serviceable I just lubricate the side zip occasionally.
