I've just bought a 2nd hand Evinrude 4hp. The plate on the leg states;

Model No' BE4BRENM
Ser. No' B08900297
Belgium.

Can anyone help with info on this engine please. eg, Fuel mix, spark plug type, possibly a workshop manual for sale, or location on the net?
Cheers, Mike.

Used to have an evinrude 3hp short shaft that required a 100:1 mix ratio but the mechanic recommended using 50:1 as it wasnt used all that often, to protect the cylinders.

If you can't get the info here or for the link suggested by "bobupanddown" try the Evinrude section on the iboats forum at http://www.iboats.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi

I have absolutely no doubts that you will learn what you need to know there. It is important to interpret the model number correctly as the year of manufacture may determine the correct fuel mixture.

I think the E and the N are the year identification which is interpreted from the word I N T R O D U C E S where I = 1, N = 2 etc upto E = 9 and S = 0. That would make yours a '92 model. That sound right?

I dont know what the B is at the beginning, the E = Evinrude, the 4 = 4hp, other letters refer to other things including shaft length and starting method.
