Shorepower plug?

If it's for shorepower is it three or 4 or 5 pin, is it to fit a marina,

is it male or female? Looks female. Is the outer collar screw thread?

It says on the side 16 amp rating and IP66, water proof .

These sockets are fairly common but not looking like this one

Looks unlike any shorepower plug I have ever seen. I don't think it would fit any of the outlets I have encountered in UK, France, Spain, Portugal, Greece etc, but it looks as if it has had a hard life. I think the advice to chop it off and fit a standard plug is sound.

It's identical to the one that was fitted to my Dehler 39 CWS, 1990 model. It shorted out the whole pontoon 3 times in La Trinite a few years ago before I realised it was my boat doing it. The plug had melted and I was less than popular!

The construction and wiring thickness seemed very under-sized to me, so I replaced the plug and socket with a more robust fitting.

I've just bought something very similar from RS Components numbered 540-1896 with a socket 540-1925. Strictly of course the names are reversed but you'll know what I mean. Comes with two grommets for diff cable sizes and all very robust and water-proof. I bought them to replace the connection for a shore cable in our Dehler 372's anchor locker. Hope that helps?

Had one on our Dehler 37CR shorepower cable - must have been standard Dehler fit judging by the above posts.

Just like TimMorley, ours blew the pontoon out a few times, due to sparking between pins and socket so I replaced it with the standard IEC type

Was difficult to get replacement plug when making cable up too....RS Components if I remember rightly

Thank you to you all for these comments, as usual full of good info and leads (excuse the pun) and much appreciated. I do agree it is a somewhat undersized piece of kit for this work so probably time to beef it up. (I was only trying to save work!) Thanks again,

Happy Christmas and all that good stuff,

Copious
