Some questions for far-flung liveaboards from a dreamer... How do manage your shorebased responsibilities and liabilities? In particular, I'm thinking of how do you arrange for reception of traditional post? What about banking matters and dealing with any situation or institution that requires a land-based address (for example: arranging to obtain a new credit card)? What is your tax status, and is it possible to be both non-resident and non-domiciled?

On another matter, can you recommed any other liveaboard and cruising forums that have a truely international audience (apart from this one of course!)

Many thanks.

Have a post-restante address at home in the UK, relatives are the usual one.
In the case of most banks you can handle your banking affairs using the internet.

In the case of domicile and residence the matter is far more complex and needs to be treated an a case for case basis.

In case you were hoping to avoid direct taxation, I can assure you that you'll find a united front from nearly all governments, preventing that hope.

Thank you charles_reed for your comments. Being a non-domiciled resident alien in the UK, I am not unfamiliar with the intricacies of relationship between individual and country of origin/residence/preference. And you are right in that my questions are perhaps far too complex to be dealt with on a general discussion basis.

Except for very rare cases, your umbilical to the land is never cut.

Arado, by the way, means: au rez d'eau - at the level of the water, or waterlevel.
