Shetland 570

Hi there,

Apologies if I'm posting in the wrong place but I know nothing about boats.
My step father is sadly very poorly and we need to sell his boat.
It is a Shetland 570 with a Yamaha 9.9 four stroke engine. It has not been on the water for a long time and although it has been undercover the inside is definitely rotten. We don't know if the engine still works.
It has a trailer and can be moved. I can see a similar one on eBay for £1400. It is in better condition but has no engine.
Does anyone know how much we should ask for this boat please?

Many boats from this era will have some rot but doesn't normally effect the integrity of the hull. Without seeing the boat, hard to say but you have 3 items with a value, a boat, trailer and engine and each item depending on condition can effect the overall package value considerably.

About 10 years ago we paid £3500 for a Shetland 536 with a clapped out trailer and 60hp 4-stroke engine. Boat was ok though well worn, trailer was dangerous as the safety brake barely worked but the engine was good. It was a good starter boat.
The engine probably works but will need a starter battery and fresh fuel. It may need a bit of a service but nothing too much. If you can get it working you a selling something bigger than a pile of bits.
Park it where people can see it and put a price in the window.

Just to add, Shetland is well known make and if your Dads can be towed away safely and used straight away (ish) , I'd say its worth more than a better one with no engine or trailer.

It’s really a question of condition of the three items. I would say a minimum of £1000 if all three are in a poor state and require some work up to around £3000 if all parts are in good working condition.
