Sheerness Lifeboat (Early days)

Is this the same man whose wife used to run the Pub at Queenborough? I seem to recall an area of the pub with photos of the lifeboat and the coxswain

I guess the Wessex was from the ASR unit that was based at Manston. I remember when they flew Whirlwinds - they had a busy afternoon once at our club at Herne Bay, maybe late 1960's, when our annual regatta was flattened in a line squall. The event was called 'The Row of Pins' because the prizes were pins of beer which had to be drunk on the premises, you couldn't take it home. Although the event was abandoned, the beer had been bought so we had to drink it anyway. We gave one pin to the crews at Manston, and a few days later they brought back the empty. By air, of course.

I do recall unless I am imagining it that this was 'The Old House at Home'.
