Anyone know where I can get information on PSS shaft seals? I am fedup standing on my head to turn on the greaser every time. Folkboat currently out of the water so seems a good time to replace with more modern equipment.

Thanks in advance Mike.

Hi Mike

I also have a folkboat (plastic) and the stern gear is not easy to get at. I have a remote greaser mounted in the cabin under the steps, a length of tube takes the grease the the stern tube. look at the link below they have one for about £40

I know its not the answer you were looking for but it makes greasing easy.

Hope it helps

David

Hi David,

Many thanks will try them. I am in the process of a total refubishment of an International Folkboat (with self draining cockpit) and it is a pain in the a**e as you know to dangle upside down ( through an 18" square hole )to the greaser. For £40 it must be cheaper than modern day seals!

Regards Mike.

Seems a lot of trouble to go to when you can just rellocate the greaser to a more convenient position. My last boat had a pipe connecting greaser to stuffing box. When the fancy new technology fails will you be able to get to it easier enough?
