Title of David Barrie's book. Just reading (courtesy of Little Sister) this now. Although writing in an almost academic style, this fascinating history of the development of navigation and the sextant is easy to read. It parallels his learning to take sights on a West-East Atlantic crossing in 1974 with the lives of those who charted the seas and how they achieved it. Some funny and touching moments too
