Heard a rumour that changes were happening to the sewage arrangements in Chichester Harbour.
Moored near Langstone I've noticed a much dirtier waterline and on one occasion noticed a brown bubbly stream going down center channel.
Has anyone noticed this or got information on outfalls?

Harts Farm Way Sample Date 20/11/2020
Total Coliforms 950
Faecal Coliforms 440
Faecal Streptococci 170
Water Quality Grading GOOD

How bad does it get before they stop calling it "good"? The EC Bathing Water Directive guideline is that 80% of the samples must not exceed 500 total coliforms per 100ml or 100 faecal coliforms per 100 ml and 90% of the samples must not exceed 100 faecal streptococci per 100ml.

I would call these results a "fail"

For the last couple of years I have been an active supporter of SAS (Surfers against Sewage) which despite their name carry out a broad based campaign which benefits all water users over the profound arrogance of the various government organisations and industry panels who represent the organisations apparently "looking after" the process.

I have to say three cheers for these guys who are forever sitting on Public Inquiries and committee meetings and lobbying for us to enjoy clean water as part of our sport. They are highly professional and tireless.

As a charity they enjoy a miniscule amount of support compared to the RYA which is a pity as every boat user who enjoys their environment would clearly enjoy it far less if the campaigns against untreated sewerage and biological treatment fail because of lack of interest.

FYI I am not a representative of this organisation just a supporter

I expect Tony's figures are from the Havant Borough Council site. They certainly quote 2020. Test results as accurate as the date?
