Setting up trot mooring

I have no real experience however.... not to be detered...
Fore and aft moorings are undesirable and usually dictated as a requirement by the local water authority to get more boats into the space. Swing moorings are far more desirable.

So the local authority may already have provided some sort of attachment ie a steel cable or chain with or without posts to which all the moorings are attached or they may be individual mass weights or a combination.
So you need to find out what is already down there and follow suit.
You will need a diver to make attachments to existing structure. I would suggest that even if you fit your own individual weights that they be attached to adjacent weights. That gives you more support in one direction and the aother guy more support in the other direction.

From there you have risers of chain or chain and rope to 2 bouys whch may remain in the water or preferably be hoisted onto the deck.(chain at the bottom to avoid chafe on anything sharp on the bottom) (rope cos it lasts longer and has spring)
The bouys are usually joined together by a line so that you can pick up the mooring from any point.
You will need stronger ropes and deck attachment points than for an anchor or swing mooring because of the potential for a side wind or tide causing huge loads. good luck olewill
