Serial Port problem

Is it possible to connect my boaty instruments to my laptop via usb. My laptop doesnt have a serial port.

you can buy usb - serial converters quite readily -have had both success and failure with them - my advice - buy a known brand name - not the cheapest you can find !

Maplin are doing a usb - serial converter at the moment for about £12. I got one and it works fine.
