.. how do you remove it from PVC?

I have some of this horrible stuff stuck to some brand new PVC "window" material (spray hood) - don't ask how it got there /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif.

I have tried the following:

ethanol (works only very poorly with lots of rubbing and leaves a opaque fil of glue)

white spirit (no effect)

kerosene (no effect)

acetone (melts the PVC and ruins it)

Does anyone have any other ideas, or is it a lost cause and I should just trust the UV from the sun to do the job for me eventually.

Have you tried "sticky stuff remover". Available from hardware shops. Good for all sorts of jobs including removing oil & tar. It will remove adhesive from sticky back pads etc. without damaging the surface.

Try WD40 .. But try a bit were you cannot see it first .. Same applies to all glue removers .. We use it at work for removing the residue from sticky lables ..

I thought that hot water and washing up liquid and a j cloth is all you need?
I am sure that that is all I have ever used.

Cheap chatty after-shave left over from christmas pressie !

That cleans of most things from marker pen on CD's where you need to correct title ! to plaster glue, sellotape gunge etc.

Some say WD40 ... YUK ! That usually just spreads it and leaves 'orrid smell.

Second cheap chatty after-shave but it can be equally good when the source is a hotel room rather than Christmas present. It is very good for removal of manufacturers stickers left on hire cars. Also works on glue remaining from other stickers.

Not so good at attracting women and can have the completely opposite effect despite what researchers say /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
