Self feathering propellers

Maxprop made by the epynomous company @ : Via Bemardino Galliareri, Milano, Italy. Telephone: +39 (2) 33404325, Fax: +39 (2) 38000791; are the earliest manufacturers of a feathering prop. It needs to be set to maximise the drive for hull shape & engine torque. Probably the slipperiest but not the best to get the most push, being always a compromise. Some reports of problems with reverse and loss of balance.

Brunton, Autoprop, self-pitching rather than just feathering gives superb drive but blade shape has to be designed for engine power-curve and boat hull drag. Bearings need bi-annual adjustment or you get a rumble.

Kiwiprop, similar to Brunton but in GRP. Made in NZ.

Only the Brunton is recommended for a boat of the size/weight mentioned.

The Slipstream looks to be a copy in 316 stainless of the original Maxprop.

The offer of a 5 year warranty is pretty meaningless, I changed the bearings in my Autoprop after 13 years of hard use, after 4 cutless bearings and one propshaft had worn out.
 
Yes - worked fine. Had nicely aerofoil shaped blades that rotated on direction change so that leading edge always was ... Still being produced as of last Sanctuary Cove Boat Show, with expanded product range. Look to be very well engineered and machining work seems excellent.
 
Do a quick search as this topic was discussed on one of the forums a few weeks ago. I mentioned that I was tempted by aquastream as its SS therefore no dissimilar metals on shaft - it still need a new anode each year though.

Finally put off by price Variprop was much cheaper and for the 75hp a 4 blade seemed better than a 3!
