Anyone know the best way to attach the tack of the mainsail to this boom bracket please?

Curious that it has horns as 2 reefing lines showing in pictures so assume in boom reefing so why the horns? Just pull on red or blue line? Our attaches with a large shackle to the sail tack .

As others have mentioned its the large machine screw.

The horns are for the reefing spectacles if reefing at the mast. However ropes can be past up the two holes near the mast for dual line reefing.

I see two ropes exiting the top of the boom. Is this boat single line reefing rigged?

Thank you forum members, another mystery solved . It was the screw, obvious once someone tells you! Boat is set up for slab reefing at the mo.

I have no horns just the tack shackled to the eye bolt that is the gooseneck pivot.

When reefing I just pass a line through the reef cringle and through the tack cringle.

It's crude but it does the job.

I have a similar set up. The horns are there for the spectacles on the third reef. Reefs one and two use cars to hold down the luff But you need to hook on reef 3.
In my case the big hole shown on the drawing is used to secure a shackle which holds the main.

It ios very desirable if you an do it to get the tack close top the mast (ie against the pull of the outhaul) This will alleviate pull on the bottom slug or bolt rope and get the bottom corner of the sail really flat. ol'will
