Seized piston rings I think, any liquid mixes to help free them

I've read accounts of some engines where it's supposedly possible to get the conrod and piston out downwards with the crankshaft still in place but I don't think there would be enough clearance in any of the engines I've stripped. No Regrets is not suggesting that, of course, and it's probably not possible on the Riley engine.

As is said the con rods are forks so a "power pack" can be quickly changed out, basically a piston cylinder rod assembly unbolted off the "block" and a new one bolted on.
They used to use them in our supply boats in Angola.

Ah, the sporty 40, my first car too, cost me £12 with some tax and MOT. Did handle a bit funny with town and countries on the back and one cross ply, one radial on the front :ambivalence:
The handling was superb! not! about two inches play at the steering wheel, concentrated the mind somewhat.
