Second Hand Sails?

Hi,

Can anyone recommend a good source of used sails? I've got a Super Seal 26 and I'm looking for a mainsail for cruising. I don't really want to pay the price of a new one as we already have good sails for racing, I just want something good enough for local cruising. The mainsail luff length is 9.1m and the foot is 3.3, both with bolt ropes.

Any used sail dealers out there?

Thanks in advance,

Paul

I've just got some new sails for my Beneteau 285 from Kemp sails. Am selling the old (not so old in fact) main and furling gen. I'm going to put them on Ebay but if you like I can get some pics and measurements over to you before I do that.

regards,

Jono

Oddly enough, I have just offered an old 285 sail to someone with a Superseal and it was a shade too tall but he thinks it might be made to fit. (This had sliders rather than bolt rope though.)
As it happens, I have a s/h Trapper TS240 sail going very cheap (£40?) which is in perfectly fine condition for cruising - may be a little on the small side though. It's a Lucas, Luff 8.43, Foot 2.95 Bolt rope luff, 2 reefs.

sorry to hijack the post, but while we are on about second hand sails, would any one have a cruising chute for a fractional rigged 27 foot boat

A couple fo years ago I found Kemp cheaper Hong Kong sails when like for like considered.

I have been pleased with their sails.

there was another post a few months ago which gathered some more web links on second hand sails. might be worth a search.
Also, might be worth phoning round the sailmakers to see if any have what you need second hand or surplus stock.

Possibly a similar distance from you to Seateach (Emsworth) would be Westaway Sails (Ivybridge). They have a large stock of secondhand sails listed OnLine. These are sails sold on behalf of their customers so prices may not be negotiable and in my experience not especially cheap.
Have you thought about visiting Beaulieu next weekend?
