Hello all, A little while ago as a new-comer I asked the forum for help in locating SEATRAK and also advice on installing the unit.May I thank every-one for their help especially MR. PETER HUMPHREYS of MARINE CONNECTIONS for his patience and help in sorting out my muddled wiring. He was also kind enough to send me the correct installation manual. THE SYSTEM IS NOW UP AND RUNNING!!!!
My advice to anyone who has a question (no matter how silly the question may seem) to ask the forum!!!!

Hi.....one hopes the management will put the boot in, this blatant opportunist crap wastes time space and goodwill.

From what I could find out for the chap, the firm ceased trading / disappeared earlier this year, thus not a lot of help for them.

The poor fella was only trying to say thank you for the help he received from the forum.

So my mate says how has a unit down there, wan't repeat what he said.
If you check out JOYCE_BOAT thread, there is a contact number and name that may be able to help.

What am I missing? A sailor asked for help and many people on the forum tried to provide him with some help. Why are some people making fun of the situation? I looked at the history of his posts and he is not trying to pull a fast one, it was a genuine question and request for help. His thank you to the forum may be unusual but it’s not malicious or unfriendly. I think the people who made fun of the situation should be ashamed of themselves.

Hello all,
I was shocked to see the comments from some members of the forum. I explained that I was a newcomer to the forum.
I was pleasantly surprised at the helpfull response and advice which was given freely from members of the forum.
It never occured to me that by thanking them publicly and the company that I was directed to would cause such offence.
I had hoped that by providing a contact name ie MARINE CONNECTIONS it would be helpfull to other new buyers of the SEATRAK SYSTEMS considering the fact that SEATRAK no longer exist.

To help you with this:

1) Perhaps unknowingly you made a series of posts that were precisely of the kind that can be made by those seeking to publicise their own businesses. That is contrary to the rules set for this facility.

2) For your guidance there is no need to make a series of individual posts thanking members -- a general post against your original thread is the usual form. Please also refrain from using asterisks in headlines.

3) the use of capital letters on bulletin boards (and on the internet generally) is perceived as the equivalent of shouting. By using them on your posts the emphasis can be misread.

Hope that helps.

For the benefit of others here I have no specific evidence that joyce_boat is connected to Seatrak. Would also remind everyone that matters of concern should be reported to me and not dealt with by posts attacking other users. As far as I am concerned the matter rests here.

Hi Robert!

I totally agree with you. There's little enough gratitude shown these days. I too followed the thread and he did, as you say, want genuine info. OK, the 'series' of thanks was a bit OTT, but that's a damn sight better than ignoring the often detailed and time-consuming efforts of those who try to help.

Please let's keep the 'knocking' for those that deserve it!

Cheers

Jerry

Re: Welcome to the forum

Joyce Boat Welcome to the forum ,I too on seeing your posts suspected a marketing scam but it appears I was wrong .

Im glad you received helpfull replies and were decent to reply to them individually.

usuallybut obviously not allways multiple posts with brand names highlighted or in capitals are the work of companies trying to abuse the forum by using it for free publicity.

In your case it would appear to be a case of mistaken identity.

I hope this doesnt put you off .Once people accept you as genuine there is a mountain of good advise and a lot of fun to be had.
