Is it possible to read post/replies made over one year ago? I've tried to do this using the 'search' facility here, but get no joy as it says maximum one year. Am I doing something incorrectly?
It's often quicker to find what you want using Google; type site:www.ybw.com in the Google search box, followed by the search word(s) or phrase(s) you're looking for.
Google only works well on new posts, anything over a year old tends to get lost quite quickly as google doesn't put a very high priority on threads or posts that are hundreds of pages in the past.
Got it in one! Many thanks Brendan. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif pvb, thanks for that idea too, I'll try that next time. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Not sure that's strictly correct. Try a Google site search for the word eberspacher. When I did this, the first page of "about 819" results included a thread from March 04.
You'll hit lucky sometimes, but looking for specific threads, it's very difficult to find old posts with google as many of them are no longer cached. The ybw search engine though cumbersome, does have them all cached.
Well Keith when he asked for ideas to spend some IT budget on, was quite clearly told that a decent search engine was a high priority, so fingers crossed!
it's a restraint put on the searches. Purely because too many searches at once put a huge strain on the server. Although things are fine these days, the forums used to creak to a halt if too many searches happened at once.
Lots of complaints about the forums running slow, crashing, multiples posts etc. So far better to have a few restraints on searching, rather than have forums creak all the time.
