Hey sorry about the wait. I had to drive home from work and have dinner. About that warranty! The choice is you either pay twice as much money in Europe and get a warrenty or you can buy a boat from here for half the price and not get one. If you are buying a used boat then you probably wont be getting a warrenty anyway. The reason i questioned you was because i didnt see what marina marbella had to do with it. I believe that you purchase a warrenty seperatly in the uk but i am not entierly sure.

You don't sound like an English man living in the US!
Surely you would know about warranties in our country?
So from your answers so far, don't bother me unless your spending big bucks on at least a 25ft + boat, forget the warrentry on a new boat and what do you expect if your getting it half price anyway. And although I'm from the UK i've never heard of the Marina Marbella, who've been selling Searays in the UK for decades.
Your doing well /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I was is RAF for over 15years I grew up in portslade, Brighton, Sussex. My son moved from england 5 months ago, my ex wife lives in peacehaven sussex england. You will probably find i am alot more english than you!
Wow its amazing I use loads of different of forums all over the net for different things and the one thing i love more than anything else(boats) I get hammerd on. And trying to help other people out by saving them thousands of pounds. I dont get this treatment anywhere else and am quite dissapointed in the british marriners. Oh and by the way my Nigerian friend bought a 44 off of me today and will hopefully purchasing 2 more in the next week.
When mentioning marina marbella I thought that he was refering the marina in spain. I did not think that Sea Ray where going to impress me but so far i have no faults on them. So what if they are no where near as expensive as the UK manufacturers. And for those who dont know Sea Ray that are sold new in Europe are built in Europe thats probably why they wont pick up the warranty.

Ok, you got me on that one!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
But then it wasn't me thats claiming to be English!!
For what its worth, I hope you are for real, cause us boat buyers need all the help we can get when dealing with UK(thats english to you!) prices!!
I personally would love a cheap small cuddy imported from the US.
Sorry for snapping lol. I understand about the prices in england (uk) my son came over here to live a few months ago and he is as mad about boating as i am and he simply can belive that you can buy a brand new searay for 8000pnds refering to the 175. If you are interested in any cuddy in particular please contact me. We have some 2007 240sundancers for $53k. That cant be a bad price can it?
There is no doubting there is plenty to be saved by importing from the USA to the UK especially with the current exchange rate being so favourable and I agree with scrasie that the loss of warranty is "probably" more than compensated for by the saving.
I have recently imported my own boat from the USA for that very reason.
The boat should also be "CE Proofed" to ensure she meets with European criteria (Recreational Craft Directive)
Only word of warning is don't forget to add the VAT & Import duty onto the cost of the boat, and the cost of the shipping is also subject to VAT. (on a $53,000 boat I would estimate it to cost about £10,000 for delivery, VAT, duty & CE Proofing).
scrasie now you mentiuon 207 "240" Sundancers. I assume they have probaly big Mercruiser engines, I assume you ave read my earlier posts re rotting engines on older Searays.
How can you guarantee that on the new models the engines will not need new exhaust manifolds every 4 years? In other words have Mercruiser sorted this problem.
Scrasie - we bought 3 boats, all from MarineMax - one came from Jacksonville, one from Georgia and one from Ft walton Beach. The 2 - 2nd hand ones have been great, the new Sea Ray has come with what we think are manufacturer faults and we are not happy with the "tough luck sort it over there" attitude from marine Max. The maths for interest is broadly (if you do it yourself which is what we did) - that the boat ends up costing about half, maybe a bit less than UK and then transportation, VAT, inport duty, port handling, CE certification etc. is about 25% so in essence you end up with a boat approx 25% cheaper. For sure the local dealers treat you like "scum"!!
I own a relatively new 25ft+ Searay so have a bit of a view on this one. I talk to Marina Marbella quite often. They were saying that they find it very difficult to shift models that are larger than mine (315 Diesel) in the UK. Personally I think it's because they're over priced. They offered me a 'good deal' on a 335 that they have in at the moment which they want nearly £170k for. I could get a new Zaffiro or very nice Targa 34 for that and have money left over. That said, I don't think importing is an option. Mainly because you need to be buying one of their sport yachts before they're equiped with Diesels. The Domestic market for 30 - 45ft searays seems to be dominated by petrol power. I honestly don't think people want US 30ft+ boats here with twin big block petrols. M-Marbella have had a 315 with twin 4.7l mercs on their books for well over a year now. I don't think it's over priced, I just don't think anyone would fancy the fuel costs and the relatively small cruising range.
