I know there's a few sealord/oceanlord owners here....
I currently have a log to port of the centreline under the seating just aft of the heads and a depth transducer slightly further forward and ever so slightly to starboard, just aft of the forepeak door. I think this is probably standard. For various reasons (and yes I'm aware of people's gripes with the aimar multis) I'm thinking of decommissioning the current log and replacing the depth with a dst810.
For those owners/ex-owners who can visualise these positions, has anyone stuck a paddle wheel (or better yet a dst transducer) where the depth currently is or have a reason that's a bad place for it?
Various reasons include:
* I have to take all stuff out of the locker to remove the log, whereas there's easy access to the other location
* The log is only useful for judging relative effects of sail tweaks: calibrated for flat motoring it producers wildly off readings depending on tack and heel
* I've never really got to the bottom of my is-it-the-depth-transducer-or-the-head problem. "head" is most likely but a dst810 is cheaper than a new head unit and will display on the old head unit via the n2k to sea talk converter
