i have an outboard that has a part of an outer cable ripped leaving bare copper showing ,its not an earth lead so i cant leave it.getting self amalgamating tape on it i think would be all but impossible due to its awkward position . i have been told in the past that silicone sealant will cause the copper to rot,so does anyone have any idea of any sealant that would seal such a wire thus insulating it it from all arround.Thanks.Kieron

Ordinary silicone sealant contains acetic acid (the vinegar smell) and can corrode metal. You can get neutral cure silicone without acetic acid but I think one of the Sikaflex adhesives would adhere better.

Could you slit some hose and slide it over?

Did you buy the eBay stuff? Do you know how much is in the tin? One option said 30ml for£6.99 if I read it correctly which is expensive. Good stuff though, just expensive if I read it right.
