Any SC35 owners out there....

What options would you consider a requirement and which, if any, would you not buy again?

Sorry forgot to mention...for a med boat so a/c and genny is a must.....would the demisters still be useful out there?

Is there a need for radar? very unlikely to be out in foggy conditions or night passages.

Although it has one I've never used the BBQ on mine!

The teak table in the cockpit is an option and although expensive I think it is worth having over the standard plastic jobby......

We use the deck led's all the time.

not sure I would bother with the bow sunbathing cushions, for the amount that we have used them they are a royal pita as there is no where to store them!

Sorry, assumed you were UK so I have no idea if demisters would be needed at all. You need to scrap my ideas then lol coz you won't be needing cockpit heating either. :o
 
i hope we wouldn't need the heating!

As for cushions...can you not just store them in the forward cabin on the bed? or if in use then just around the sofa outside??

We thought the bbq would be good so you dont get the cooking smell indoors?

What are the standard mattresses like?
 
We use the BBQ quite a bit so we find it a plus. The matresses on ours are really comfy and always get a good nights sleep. Will you have the fridge in the cockpit as standard? We had to have it added to ours and pleased we did as we use it all the time. I take it your 35 is brand new and you're speccing it? When do you get it?

havent bought it yet..! just trying to get an idea of what we will want...yes we would have the fridge as standard.
 
They're a great boat. We love everything about ours. Let us know how you get on and post some pics if and when you buy her.

If you are going to keep it on the med, aircon is a big plus and a generator. A barbeque griddle is really useful as cooking outside in the fresh air is much better than down below on a hot med day. Bacon butties as the sun rises
Forward sunpads are also really useful. I kept my previous boat in the UK for 2 years and left the sunpads in the garage at home. When I moved to the med I fitted them and left them out from May to October and they give a lot of useful space.
Radar is useful but not essential. AIS - I personally wouldn't bother. You wouldn't get much use from demisters either
 
I am trying to think of the extras we have and those I would want but have not got
We have:
Cockpit teak, teak table (nice but not worth the money) BBQ....18 months before we used it and quite like it now, chartplotter C90W wish we had a larger one, autopilot,searchlight, Quietflush (no it isn't) toilet and holding tank, radar...not used it properly yet, AIS transponder, leather in saloon, anchor winch (would like a chaincounter),loudhailer, liferaft, bathing platform and cockpit LEDs, cockpit upholstery upgrade ....dithered about this but glad we did it, TV, DVD system and rear cabin TV point.... 12v in there.Echomax XS radar enhancer, 240E Raymarine VHF.
Have not got but wish we had A/c and genny.... permanent 3rd hand to help with mooring and a bit more skill with the outdrives but it is coming.
Favourite bits we have brought on.... teak book rack in saloon (£38 from Howells at Southampton Boat Show) Nespresso Pixie coffee maker and Aerochino (for capuchinos).Memory foam mattress topper...I liked it before but mine was not the final decision.
Modifications done to our spec...hinged light bar on roof (can get air draft down to about 10ft) and another rail higher on back door.
We enjoy the boat and just need more time to use it.
 
Med spec as much as poss
Assuming you will live on it ( not day boat)
Geny/ with A/c reversible ( also heats)
Cockpit cool box/ drinks chiller
As much teak as poss nice with bare feet on the floor even inside on the cabin sole and table too out side .
Binimi .
Bow cushions
Bow thruster
Extra anchor chain
Passerelle ( a small folding one that fits in locker is ok) or the factory expensive one
If you are then plan on actually using it for any decent passage making -----
Radar useful
Autopilot but some would say with a decent plotter all 3 come hand in hand and are essential ?
Not a great deal of use/ low down on the list ,
Demisters
really depends what you plan to do with it floating appartments or tour , also remember the residual value / resale ability when ticking the options boxes

If u drive a lot ask if they can fit classic type Bennet trim tabs rather than standard QL/Volvo ones. SC35 likes to ride bit bow high in slow planing speeds and powerfull tabs makes your life easier. (especially if goes rough)
Also demisters are must if u like to go out in cold weather and see something.

Small thing, but i would like to have second switch for cockpit lights in cockpit, and you dont always have to go down to cabin if u need light.

Biggest thing what i dont like in our boat is how it trims (bow) with QL trims.
Best boat in every other part in its class... :)

Edit. If u spec radar (and use it), it must be mounted upper position than standard roof level and tilted bit forward or its useless when u go up to speed.

Hi guys, my dad bought a new sealine sc35 just a week ago, decent spec, but I was wondering what the extra 'mood' lighting means, does this mean you can change it to LED's to blue on the cock pit ? (which would be pretty cool!). Also I live in scotland and Im trying to persuade my dad into getting demisters! is it a must if I live in scotland ? cheers if u can help!

Extra mood lightning is only more leds what i know.

I dont have demisters either and thinking retrofit them, but Sc35 dash looks to be bonded and i'm not sure how to do that yet.
If you will get demisters to your boat let me know how they fit them afterwards.

You can manage most of time without demisters or with 12v (portable) blower, but when u have enough people in cockpit and it gets cold, rainy and dark, then u will really miss proper ones...
 
I Don't own an SC35 but I've looked at a few. I really like the extended bathing platform. If I were to buy one I'd definately have one; I felt it was a great extention to the cockpit (big enough for a couple of chairs or sunbeds even).
