Sealine Salesmen!

Re: Chines and chine walking

Well, it started out with my guilt trip about being involved ever so slightly in the subject of the original post (which also reminded me that I had messed up big time a few years back and broken all my own rules when using a boat for press purposes). Then I read about chines and that reminded me about...and so on and so on.

In fact if you really want to know the truth I'm on US West Coast at the mo and my wife is much better at sleeping to the -8hr clock than me it would seem!

It is my understanding that Sealine hulls are not designed by naval architects.I have driven a few and was unimpressed

I think you'll find that they are, but they are not "big names".

Even if they were, what would the point be of copying Fairline/Princess etc ? Fairline do Fairline quite well.

Sealine at least try to be a little different, some of which works (extending cockpits, interior design, the T47...), some of which doesn't (early underpowered S41's, bizarre experiments with propulsion systems on the C39 which nobody bought...)

Till the 450 they were designed by Tom, from the 450 they were Bennet.
Sealine were also the first to employe a industrial designer from the car industry to carry out styling and interior design, later followed by Fairline and Marine Projects.

Precise turn in without uneccesary slide- I find that they dont 'dig-in' during a tight turn but have a tendency to slide giving unpredictability.Directional stability at non planing and planing speed- they give the impression that they ride along the surface of the water giving a vagueness to their handling and handle a beamy sea without rolling like a barrel- Not up with the leaders IMHO.

Its not a knock at Sealines its just that I personally think that they dont match some other manufacturers in the area of handling not saying that they arent good boats but IMVHO in that area they seem a bit down.
