I saw this boat in the shed at Essex Boatyards half way through the repair work. Which was extensive to say the least. It certainly looked more than smoke damage.

We thought about buying it at the right price. How ever, it seemed that the last 5 % of the work would be hardest to get right. Small items of trim etc, stuff that is hard to buy, and get exactly right to match the original fit out.

It wasn't Essex Boatyards undertaking the work, they had sold the boat to a repairer.

A lot of the wiring was in bits, and we thought that there would be niggly problems with stuff for ages.
Hi, do you recall name of the boat? I am looking at one at TBS Penton Hook Currently?

Nourouz has been up of sale for a couple of years now, has been moored on the Thames for many years.
I was considering going to have a look as its a massive boat for the money but they were obviously getting desperate and have now wrapped the hull and arch in an effort to make it look more modern. Unfortunately now rules it out completely for me, why ruin a good boat! S48's clearly take a while to sell even in the current market but now its appeal has been narrowed even more.

I am looking at an s48 currently - was called Ivy Sea and now Norouz. Is this the fire damaged one repaired in Essex?
I have serviced Ivy Sea some years back when it was in the Hamble and Port Solent . Was an ok boat when I knew it but yes I think it had some fire damage in the cockpit .

The S48 was always a tough sell IMHO as it didn't really offer substantially more than the S41/42/43, plus the added hassle of a poor hi-lo platform. I think at 165k, it's about 40K over priced if you don't want to take a bath when you sell it.

I’m not sure that’s the case, I don’t know this particular S48 but Marine Sales have just sold a S43 in a couple of weeks for 185k.

Firstly, the S43 is a much more saleable boat, secondly, my view is that boat prices are currently inflated - this most certainly won't last, so if the OP is planning to buy a 'hard to shift' boat, in a market that is virtually guaranteed to fall, then this needs to be reflected in the price paid for the boat if there is any likelihood that he'll want to move it on in the next few years. All IMHO of course
