Sealine s24

Had an S23 with KAD32 and it planed without any problems though supercharger was noisy. We had trim tabs though rarely used them to correct a lean.
Great boat, with a single prop. and no bowthruster it was not easy to berth. Get lots of fenders!

when I bought my S24I was told it was tippy. Having owned it a few years I don’t quite know what people meant as I don’t find it so. I think it might just be one of those things people say
Suppose it depends on what you’re used to. I had a Sealine 218 at the time and my pal had the s24…was extremely tippy compared to that. The newer small s models are the same. Especially on plane. Never touched the tabs on the 218…always on the tabs on the s24. Still great wee boats though. No doubt

Agreed. You wouldn't want an S24 without tabs, but I guess if you're used to tabbing regularly (or don't notice if you're on a slant) it's not such an issue.

Like every other small trailerable sports cruiser, it suffers from the inevitable compromise of getting standing headroom into something with a sub 8ft 6in beam. It's just physics.

+1 for the 805, 7.8m and 2.9m beam V's 7.52m and 2.49m beam for the Sealine. I personally found the 805 more stable on the water than the S24, but to be honest they are both good boats. I'd also recommend a diesel, due to fuel availability, running costs and resale value, yup they are more to buy but you will get it back in the end.

Totally agree about getting it back, but you still have to have it in the first place. What a decent diesel 805 Leader now, £50K+? I'm a bit out of touch so feel free to correct me, but I'd imagine that's probably double a petrol S24.

When I bought ours (2 years ago) it was pretty comparable in price to the S24, yes, prices have gone a bit crazy, but diesel S24's are currently for sale at £44k +so still much in the same ball park as a Leader 805 at £45-50k.

I'd expect to pay £10k -£12k less for the petrol version, but you could burn through that saving in a few years. But you still need the money I the first place (y):)

The Leader 805 is a nice looking boat with a nice layout which as said before is more comparable to an Sealine S28 than a S24 albeit single engine. The two areas where I see the S24 is perhaps better is the engine bay access, the 805 looks difficult to maintain an engine and the canopy arrangement on a S24 seems more robust with an arch. I don't see the S24 particularly tippy when compared to similar size boats and I find it a very capable sea boat, both in my opinion are very nice boats.

There was another thread on the Leader 805 which may be of interest: What 25' boat

I think you meant S23/S25 prices as an S24 diesel is around £25 to £35k or have you seen an S24 for £44k?

That’s not an s24. That’s a completely different and newer s23. Not sure anyone in their right mind would pay anything more than 20 odd for an s24, even with the market as it is or was.

Most you would get for a nice S24 at the moment would be about £28k no where near £40k as mentioned above

Well, in line with what I said earlier £25k to £35k, only a few years ago before it all changed, you could get a petrol for around £16k and diesel £20k+. The last two years of production ending 2001 most were fitted with KAD32. The S24 (& 240) had quite a long production run from around 1993 to 2001, so prices will vary depending on age, condition and engine etc as most of you will know.

Spot on with those figures. 7 years ago, a good friend sold his immaculate fresh water only 1999 S24, for £15500. Likely cheap at the time…but not by much.
A few years ago, nice late model s24 petrols were around 15k…diesels for around 18-21k with a kad. The earlier S240 with a petrol could be had for early teens. With a AD31…mid to late teens at best.
But hey…the market is what it is. Plenty of guys buying boats just recently will be hoping to god, the market stays as strong as it is.
Otherwise, I know of a fair number of owners that stand to lose silly money. I can think of a recent bayliner 28ft purchase in particular. 60k for a single Petrol 2005/2006 model just paid not long ago. Crazy stuff.
