I am looking at a 1989 sealine envoy with a volvo 171 16v engine its in nice condition, not sure of the hours, is it worth £16,000? what needs to be checked out is it expensive to run?

DOHC 4 cyl.bad news if cam. belt breaks which is known problem if pulleys corrode behind water pump due to rear seals leaking.i would say that boat is well over priced, and you would do better to go for V6 205hp. engine as you will find 171(167 hp) to be under powered and expensive to run.171 will struggle to get on plane. i,ve had a sealine 190 smaller boat fitted with 171 and that struggled also had 218 with V6 fine.
